CONTEST SUBMISSION ​

​

​Entry should include conceptual sketches showing design process, renderings, developed initial CAD models to be ready for feasibility studies and a team photo. ​

​

Entries must be original - newly created and unpublished and produced expressly and solely for this competition.Each group is allowed to submit one entry. 

​

Haworth is delighted to provide the opportunity of a lifetime to work alongside industry leaders to bring your idea to reality.

​

The winning team will have a unique opportunity to travel with their design concept to Milan for a co-create workshop with Studio Urquiola, to Shanghai for prototyping with Haworth Design Team and to Sydney for the gala launch event.

​

The winning team will name their product and can receive royalties from sales. Prize includes all travel, accommodation and expenses relating to product development.

Join us in Sydney for the gala launch of the newest icon of the Haworth Collection. You will have the opportunity to introduce your product alongside Team Haworth and participate in media interviews. ​Prize Part 2 - SHANGHAI

​

​After having your designs finessed and endorsed by Urquiola Studio, your design will be made engineering ready by the Haworth Design Team. From 12-13 November, the winner(s) will travel to Shanghai and work with Haworth Design Team to prepare the final design for prototyping, testing and production readiness. This will be the opportunity to test drive your designs and see the physical mockup. During this trip you will also work on finishes selection and with marketing on naming and launch plans.

​Prize Part 1 - MILAN

​

​Spend 4 nights/5 days in Italy. From 25th till 29th September, the winner(s) will travel to Milan for a workshop with Patricia Urquiola and her Studio Urquiola. This workshop is an opportunity to finesse your design leveraging the globally successful talents of the team at Urquiola Studio. The trip also includes personalised tours of Poltrona Frau in Tolentino and Cassina in Meda.

‘I want to bring an idea down to its essence without sacrificing what makes it desirable. With this in mind, I try to create solutions that are both simple and exciting.’

Nicolai believes that design should be about passion and love for life, to find new ways to create beauty, tell stories, to care, to inspire, to challenge ideas, and to solve problems. Design should not be dictated by trends, nor should it remain in a particular style of field. Nicolai is currently leading the design team in Haworth Europe.

​STUDIO URQUIOLA 

​

Her work is widely known to be playful and poetic, yet pragmatic and functional, a creative combination that is the magic behind her work. She comes and goes through conventional time—rethinking, reinventing, and creating new. The effect is a powerful reminder of the past and exploration into the now, always creating a new experience for the user. Patricia was born in Oviedo, Spain, and now lives and works in Milan where she runs Studio Urquiola.

​DAVID BARRASS 

​

David has a keen interest in the role of sensation and perception on improving user experience of products. Originally, from the U.K., he is based in Shanghai where he manages Haworth’s portfolio of products and leads the team responsible for product design, development, and engineering in the Asia-Pacific Region.
